IPCC stands for Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change which is a part of the United Nations.

John Kerry is the U.S. Special Presidential Envoy for Climate, and he will be attending the IPCC meeting in Glasgow (Scotland) in November 2021. We do not know, but Xi Jinping, the President of China, may also attend.

We do know that President Xi Jinping has already had meetings with Ambassador John Kerry, and he is committed to reducing the use of fossil fuels, such as coal, which are largely responsible for global warming. President Xi Jinping has joined the fight against climate change.

The 45^th President of the U.S.A. did everything possible to sink the IPCC, criticize the United Nations and promote his disbelief in climate change, the ultimate threat to the planet.

Now, Joe Biden, the 46^th President of the U.S.A. is reversing that policy and has made climate change a key stone of his official mandate. Joe Biden has committed over two trillion dollars to averting the perils of global warming/climate change. The U.S.A. is back on the planet!

On top of this, key banks and private enterprises in the U.S. will be prioritising even more trillions of dollars over the next ten years to support technologies such as solar and wind energy, domestic and commercial battery storage, electric and hydrogen vehicles, and many other infrastructure projects that will prevent the destruction of our forests and the excessive flooding within our communities. Private enterprise has joined the fight against climate change.

2021 will go down as the year that both the Northern and Southern Hemispheres were both hit hard by climate change. The US had massive fires across California and flooding in the southern states (Hurricane Ida). Europe too, was flooded and burnt out. And TV coverage of the floods in China and other Asian countries have been heart breaking. Mother Nature has told us that global warming/climate change has arrived!

Within all these huge funds mentioned above, primarily Governmental, monies will be needed to soften the inevitable job-transition that will come with moving out of fossil fuels, such as coal, and into renewable energy, such as solar, etc.

Climate change will create job opportunities. There will be some pain, but progress will inevitably bring prosperity. The alternative, ignoring climate change, will only bring hardship beyond belief.

Global unification is vital to keep global warming from climbing a further 1.5 to 2.0 degrees centigrade before 2050, which is the goal of the IPCC.

70% of the global economic community, which includes China and Russia, are now committed to the task. There is cause for optimism.

It is now time for action. ‘Action now’ is crucial. The Battle for Jesus is all about ‘Action now’. Global unification is crucial to averting the perils of global warming. The spirit of all that is within the story to save the planet must be brought to bear at the IPCC conference.

Let’s all of us get behind John Kerry, Joe Biden, President Xi Jinping of China, President Vladimir Putin of Russia, Boris Johnson of the UK, all the members of the G7, the European Parliament and the Middle-eastern and Asian countries to create a global force to drive action at the IPCC meeting in Glasgow in November 2021.

Action overcomes procrastination. Time is vital. The window of opportunity is closing. ‘Now’ is the word! ‘Now’ is the world!

Jesus returns in 2006 as a journalist to lead the fight against climate change/global warming.

I am no ‘Holy Joe’ and I am as amazed as anyone else to sit in a room for ten years writing a novel about Jesus, the Holy Land, and the perils of global warming (climate change). I simply got interested, researched global warming, decided it was real and asked the question: ‘well, what do we do about it?’ Or more importantly, ‘how do we even begin to find the solution to the ultimate threat to the civilised world?’ So, I joined the fight against climate change.

We cannot reach any solution to this threat without global unification. Only with global unification can we get the acknowledgement, the commitment, and the action to overcome climate change. Joining the fight against climate change is the key to the future of the planet. (See blog: Civlilsation, Climate Change, The Battle for Jesus.)

Rightly or wrongly, I concluded that the greatest person who could unite us all, who amassed probably the greatest following of all time and whose spirit and values could still unify us again was/is Jesus. Hence the story was born!

I believe that the values within Jesus’ ministry will eventually overcome the spurious objections that ‘special interest’ groups, primarily lobbyists in the US, utilise to block global unification and, ultimately, any action against climate change. The spirit of Jesus, his values, can bring us all together. That’s why I chose Jesus to return as a journalist in 2006 as the hero or protagonist of my story, The Battle for Jesus.

Until now, I have avoided selecting a picture of Jesus in my blogs so you could conjure up your own image of him. However, here are a couple of pictures of Jesus in the Holy Land that are pertinent to this blog and the story:

The picture to the left is entitled ‘The Temptation of Jesus Christ in the wilderness‘. It depicts his realisation of what is entailed in bringing his ministry to the people, the need for absolute commitment to unifying the Holy Land (his world at the time) and improve the livelihoods of all those within it. He realises that he must totally commit, which he did/does.

The above picture titled ‘The Trial of Jesus’ encapsulates the fact that Jesus took his belief to the very end. Total commitment. In the novel, Jesus returns in 2006 to join the fight against climate change with other icons of the Holy Land.

Greta Thunberg  is imbued with the courage to speak her mind. She is fearless, she is the ‘Joan of Arc’ of climate change. She is the great achiever with plenty of guts and has rallied the youth of the world. Greta has joined the fight against climate change. She has earned the respect of millions.

Sir David has devoted his life to saving the planet. He was one of the first to join the fight against climate change. A pathfinder.

Sir David made an important presentation to the G7 Summit in Cornwall, UK, in 2021, encouraging them to acknowledge and  join the fight against climate change.

In the picture below, President Joe Biden has acknowledged climate change and committed the US to taking ‘action now’.

All the members of the G7 Summit plus the representatives of European Parliament have joined the fight against climate change.

Nations representing approximately 70% of the global economy recognise the importance of ‘action now’ on climate change and have joined the fight. This includes China and Russia. We have reason for optimism!  We should all be joining the fight against climate change. Action now, a vision for the future…

The novel The Battle for Jesus, averting the perils of global warming took ten years to research and write.

Ten years ago it was obvious that the world was in peril and that we had to address climate change. Enough with procrastination, years and years have been squandered away, decision time has arrived.

Mr Brady Dennis and Ms Juliet Eilperin have got it right and their article in The Washington Post is vitally important.

Cometh the time, cometh the journalists and the reporters…in the story, Jesus returns as a journalist who joins the White House press corps. As inscribed in the above photo we must turn the tide on climate change. And time is running out.

Joe Biden’s battle for the soul of America is The battle for Jesus. We now have a President in the White House blessed with common sense.

The US federal government is currently calculating how quickly it can embrace electric cars, trucks and public transport and how efficiently it can phase out coal and fill the gap with renewable energy such as solar and wind.

Addressing climate change will create sustainable job opportunity across the U.S. We take on the challenge or perish. Simple as that.

The goal is to put in place an action plan that will limit the increase in global warming to below 1.5 degrees Celsius before 2050, but really the sooner the better. Beyond that figure and it is believed the situation will become irreversible.

This is a time for unification, for a realistic plan that will engage the world and deliver an effective result. In the novel, Jesus simply has a broad goal to get us on the right track. We must do the rest. It is up to us to win the future.

Joe Biden has marshalled a taskforce of scientists and White House administrators to implement and monitor a plan that will minimise carbon emissions and deliver a solid sustainable outcome.

The past several years have seen a massive change in technology and overall attitude that has made the challenge feasible.

Companies are creating and delivering the means (batteries, etc) to capture solar and wind energy. Governments, Federal and local are implementing tax benefits to encourage solar energy on the roofs of our houses. Already, we are domestically returning energy back into the electricity grid. The Auto industry is embracing electric cars and trucks.

The European Union has pledged to cut greenhouse gases by 55% before 2030. Briton is determined to cut their emissions by 68%. China, India, Russia and Brazil are also considering massive cuts to their greenhouse gases. So, the ‘majors’ are getting on board. It just needs Joe Biden to bring it all together and make it happen.

Massive investment in infrastructure will create more opportunity for everyone. Joe Biden is out to win the future for us all.

After cutting his teeth on The Global Star in New York, Jesus moves to The Washington Truth where Mary Magdalene runs her own column, Mary’s Say.

Jesus is a rookie journalist. Mary is a well-established highly knowledgeable reporter. She takes him under her wing and coaches him.

Mary helps Jesus with his column Jesus’ Say, which he began in New York.

The two columns are a good fit and they soon build a following.

Saint Matthew is the chief editor of The Washington Truth. He wrangles a pass for Jesus to join the White House press corps. So, Mary and Jesus cover the President’s briefings in the White House. Together they are a powerful force and they ‘fill’ the press room.

Other journalists at The Washington Truth and in the press room realise that Jesus and Mary are very special people.

In the story, after each conference, the journalists traditionally retire to Ilsa’s Inn, a local pub where they play pool and bond. Jesus uses this opportunity to learn from the journalists’ experiences covering the White House.

Jesus’ mission is to avert the perils of global warming, the ultimate threat to the planet. But all he finds is a White House mired in war and deaf to the consequences of climate change.

He must swing the US Government away from war and onto global unification if he is to achieve his mission.

Jesus asks the President tough questions causing tension between them.

The President feels (in the story) that Jesus is an imposter playing on his namesake and he complains to the Vice President.

But Jesus continues to seek accountability from the White House Administration.

The other journalists side with Jesus and, inevitably, the situation overflows into an altercation. The knock-on effect is an actual battle in the heart of Washington which the newspapers refer to as The Battle for Jesus.

The Battle for Jesus leads to a resolution that achieves Jesus’ mission encouraging the US Government to forsake the futility of war and focus its resources on global warming and climate change.

This blog has been gleaned from an article dated 14^th August, 2020 by Mr Scott Snowden who covers environmental technology for Forbes magazine.

In the 21^st Century novel, The Battle for Jesus, Jesus returns to avert the perils of global warming/climate change.

Greenland passed tipping point: Greenland’s glaciers have shrunk to such an extent that even if global warming was to cease the ice sheets would continue to melt.

Satellite information collected over the past forty years shows that Greenland’s glaciers have passed a tipping point whereby annual snow fall cannot replenish the amount of the ice melting and running into the ocean. The shrinkage of the glaciers cannot be stopped.

The Forbes article quotes Ms Michalea King, a researcher at the Ohio State University’s Byrd Polar and Climate Research Centre, USA, as saying, “What we’ve found is that the ice that’s discharging into the ocean is far surpassing the snow that’s accumulating on the surface of the ice sheet.”

Satellite data from over two hundred prominent glaciers draining into the ocean around Greenland measure how much ice breaks off or melts from them and flows into the ocean. They studied the amount of snowfall each year which replenish these glaciers and discovered that in the 1980’s and 1990’s there was pretty much an equal amount of snowfall to ice melt. The balance between the two was being maintained.

However, over the past ten years this pattern has now changed. The ice melt has significantly increased while the snow fall has remained relatively the same. So, the ice melt is now faster than it is being replenished with insufficient snow to rebuild the ice sheets or the glaciers.

There is now a constant state of ice sheet loss. This means that the sea level will continue to rise, gradually but constantly.

Note: this picture is not in the Forbes Magazine article. It has been added to this blog to demonstrate the situation. Ice cover can be seen in the distant hills but, even though this picture was taken in late summer, you can see it has totally gone in the immediate area.

A comparatively small amount of ice melt in Greenland will have a devastating effect on the world as a whole. And, we now know that Greenland has passed the tipping point.

This study is of Greenland only which makes up a large part of the North Pole, or the Arctic.

Ice is melting and carving at a spectacular rate in the South Pole or Antarctica. Also, glaciers feeding the major rivers across Asia and the Far East are also retreating, adding to the problem.

The planet is in dire straits. Now is the only window of opportunity to avert the perils of global warming.

Note: The Greenland ice sheet is about the same size as the state of Alaska with parts of it ten thousand feet thick. It contains enough ice to raise the sea level globally by twenty three feet or seven metres.

Across the 20^th century, Greenland lost approximately nine thousand billion tons of ice which rose the global sea level by 25 millimetres.

It takes about three hundred and sixty billion tons of ice to raise the global sea-level by one millimetre.

A small rise in sea-level can have devastating effects:

Hurricane Sandy in 2012, a category two hurricane swept passed New York, flooding subway tunnels and causing havoc in the streets of Brooklyn and the Hugh L. Carey tunnel.

The storm surge was fourteen feet high causing over seventy billion dollars of damage. The above pictures are a harbinger of what is to come.

In the Book, The Battle for Jesus, a 21^st Century story, Jesus returns with icons of the Holy Land to avert the perils of global warming and save the world. Jesus achieves this by steering governments away from the idea of war and domination and onto global unification for the benefit of us all.

At the beginning of the novel Jesus is writing a column for The Global Star in New York. Jesus loves New York and his column is gaining some traction when one of his articles clashes with the aspirations of Mr Muchmore, the proprietor of the newspaper, and he loses his job.

Saint Matthew salvages the situation by offering to take Jesus and his column to Washington.

In this picture Matthew is depicted as a kindly, dedicated, old sage scribing his gospel. In the book he is a fifty year old, 21st century executive with the bearing of a competent chief-editor of a major newspaper.

We know very little about Matthew’s physical attributes in the Holy Land two thousand years prior to the time of this story, so we can only define his character by his occupation and actions:

In the Holy Land Matthew was a taxman which meant that he collected taxes for the Romans. In the eyes of many, tax collectors such as Matthew were despised as collaborators and Jesus was chastised for befriending him. However, Matthew introduced Jesus to his family, entertained him and gave up a comfortable life to follow him as a Disciple. Matthew was looked upon as a sinner who had repented.

From this we can deduce that Matthew was a single-minded, determined person willing to sacrifice his career for Jesus. He obviously overcame any concerns that his colleagues may have had about him and he was accepted into the fold. In fact, in the end Matthew suffered the way of a martyr.

Fast forward 2000 years to the 21st Century and Matthew has chosen to return as a ‘volunteer’ to support the Archangels and Jesus in their mission to avert the perils of global warming. (See blog on website headed: ‘the worlds within the story’ within the ‘Behind the Scenes’ column, under ‘Associations’ which explains ‘volunteers’ from the Holy Land.)

The Souls in Heaven recreate Matthew as purpose-fit for his job as a chief-editor of a major newspaper in Washington. We see him as an affable people-person in his fifties, highly educated and deeply interested in local and worldly matters.

Mrs Eastman, a life-long friend of Mary Magdalene and the proprietor of the Washington Truth, knows who he is and makes him his chief editor. The two of them get along splendidly. Matthew is respected by all in the newsroom as a remarkably informed person and great journalist. And, Both Mary Magdalene and Jesus accept him as their boss.

Matthew heads up a great newsroom at the Washington Truth where Mary Magdalene has worked for many years. Matthew gets a pass for Jesus to the press room of the White House and is more than aware of Jesus’s love for Mary Magdalene. He supports the Archangels, in particular St Michael at the Chapel on the Orchard Road and is (off the page) good friends with Martha Bethany, Thomas and the Mother Mary.

Matthew is an intrinsic part of the story helping to knit it all together.

Jesus returns as a journalist with a mission to help the Archangels, Saint Michael and Saint Gabriel, to avert the perils of global warming and save the world, only to find a White House mired in war.

This novel is set in 2006 during the George W Bush White House Administration.

With a little Heavenly help Jesus lands a column, Jesus’ Say, with The Global Star a newspaper based in Manhattan. His column is similar to Mary’s Say written by Mary Magdalene who lives in Washington and works for The Washington Truth. So, at the start the two protagonists of the story are leading separate lives.

Jesus loves the hurly-burly of New York. The contrast to his previous surroundings in the Holy Land two thousand years ago could not be starker.

Even so, he feels the needs of the people are the same, only the surroundings, the maze of towering skyscrapers and the honking of the traffic are different.

The Story starts with Jesus living in a tenement where he befriends Constable Nathan Jackson of the NYPD. Jesus plays street soccer with the children and shares a few beers with Nathan in the summer evenings sitting on the steps of the tenement.

He is, in fact, pretty settled, with no intention of moving out of New York. His column is doing well and gaining the attention of New Yorkers. But, inevitably, Jesus being Jesus, his column becomes overly challenging. It clashes with Mr Muchmore, the owner of the Global Star, who is in the throes of purchasing the rights to satellite feeds from the White House to network his TV stations.

Mr Muchmore craves power. He sees Manhattan as the bastion of power, and he wants to own it all. Mr Muchmore wants to own the world and he does not care who knows it. He tells anyone who will listen that he wants to ‘own the world’. Jesus wants to save the world for the people, for all creatures great and small.

Mr Muchmore sees power in the concrete towers that surround his office. Jesus sees the people, their need for shelter, food, education and health. He cares about their aspirations, for their overall wellbeing and their future.

But, Jesus loses his job and has to move to Washington. He packs up his things at the tenement, says good bye to the street kids and Ethel Jackson (Nathan’s wife) who insists that he drops by the World Trade Centre which is being patrolled by Nathan Jackson.

At the World Trade Centre, while saying goodbye to Constable Nathan Jackson, Jesus notices a United Nations flag flying amongst a pack of other flags and he makes a statement on behalf of everyone by turning the flag into the wind. Only Jesus could perform such a miracle.

So, the UN flag at the WTC now billows out against the wind and Nathan realises that Jesus really is Jesus and not just a name sake. Not just a journalist with a controversial column. Jesus has declared himself.

Jesus sees the United Nations as the centre piece of global unification, vital to his plan to avert the perils of global warming.

You will have to read the story to see what happens to Mr Muchmore, Constable Nathan Jackson of the NYPD, and how Jesus’ relationship with Mary Magdalene develops.

Queen Elizabeth II agrees to host a conference at Windsor Castle on ‘Magna Carta in the 21st Century’…

Back story: The Climax of the story is a vicious hand to hand battle in central Washington D.C.. Many die, including Jesus, and the press refer to this battle as The Battle for Jesus.

The world is in shock and the Supreme Court, although appellate, feels compelled to hear an address by the Deputy District Attorney who is conducting the enquiry into this terrible melee.

Miss Nancy Shuttleworth QC enters the court as the Deputy DA’s Council Assist and, being a lady of articulate distinction, dominates the discussion within the court.

Many legal issues concerning the US Constitution, and, indeed, England’s Constitution, going as far back as Magna Carta, emerge.

Nancy persuades the Bench to ask Queen Elizabeth II to host a judicial conference with England’s Law Lords. The idea being to bring Magna Carta, the foundation of their constitutions, into the 21st Century.

The Queen, guided by Miss Shuttleworth, agrees to the request and the story moves to Windsor Castle.

Windsor Castle:

Below is a picture of St George’s Hall, Windsor Castle, where, in the novel, eminent lawyers gather for the conference.

Notice the enormity of the hall in comparison to the visitors.

In 2006, the House of Lords, was in reform, but the ‘Law Lords’ which today form the UK’s Supreme Court were still active. So, in the year of the story, 2006, the mediaeval structure of England’s judicial system was still in place.

The US Supreme Court wants to add a new clause, clause 64, to Magna Carta to hold rogue Presidents or Prime Ministers responsible for entering into a conflict, or a war, without proof of just cause.

England’s Law Lords agree with the US Supreme Court and they wish to implement it.

This places Queen Elizabeth II in an awkward position but she recognises Nancy’s hand in clause 64 and trusts her completely. Even so, she wishes to discuss it with the Chief Justice of the US Supreme Court and Lord Wallace, her senior Law Lord. She wants to walk on it, talk it through.

The Queen chooses The Long Walk for an intimate discussion with the two leaders of their respective legal fraternities. She shows them the photo of herself with Mary Magdalene and Nancy Shuttleworth taken at the ATS depot during World War Two. Her story is irrefutable and the US Chief Justice and Lord Wallace believe it.

In the story, Jesus dies to turn Governments away from conflict and war and focus their resources onto climate change and thus save the world from the perils of global warming.

Below right is the Magna Carta Memorial at Runnymede, not far from Windsor Castle by the River Thames, erected by the American Bar Association in 1957.

King John, in 1215, chose an area close to this memorial because the marshland prevented the Barons from charging his knights down on horseback.

In the story, the House of Lords, advised by the Law Lords, unanimously pass clause 64 into Magna Carta and Queen Elizabeth II seals it into law. Thereby flipping Governments away from the wastage of war and encouraging them to concentrate their/our resources onto climate change… being the greater threat to us all. Basically, Jesus, through Queen Elizabeth II, gets us all onto the right track to save the planet.

Saint Gabriel runs a tow truck, but no one is towing anything away.

The tow truck is celestial and he drives all over the world in it, parking anywhere he likes without anyone questioning him. This way he assesses the situation on the ground.

Only Solid Spirits and Grim can celestially travel in the tow truck. This means that mortals can travel in the truck normally but they cannot be transported celestially. So, Jesus and Mary Magdalene can ride in the truck, but they cannot journey across the world in it. The tow truck is indestructible.

In the novel, Saint Gabriel has teamed up with Grim and they travel the world together. Grim knows the people and the places. Gabriel brings the new born in, while Grim escorts the souls of the dead to Heaven. Through their travels we see the effects of global warming and, in particular, the devastation of famine caused by drought.

Grim is very concerned by the plight of AIDS and persuades Gabriel to do something about it.

Through Saint Gabriel we see the horrific impact of climate change across the world. He realises that the problem lies with the inertia of government, and indeed, the politicians, to do anything about it.

Saint Gabriel is ‘the messenger’, he does not judge. There is no swagger, he rarely shows anger and would never harm anyone but he is still an action man not to be trifled with. He is determined to turn things around and save the world from the perils of global warming.

Although in the novel set in 2006, Saint Gabriel travels the world in the guise of a tow truck operator, he still displays all the Biblical attributes of the Archangel. He is the ‘Messenger’. He does not judge, he is a man of reason. The tow truck acts as his celestial wings.

However, St Michael is the patron saint of war and, in the novel, he is the plotter, the schemer, always looking for ways to avert the perils of global warming.

Both Saint Michael and Saint Gabriel cannot forestall climate change. They cannot stop the ice from melting and the oceans from warming, but they can do something for future generations by accommodating what lies ahead.

In 2006, The President of the United States and his White House Administration is mired in war and deaf to any call on climate change.

The Archangels and Jesus realise that they have to change the government’s attitude, change their way of thinking. They have to get politicians off the idea of war and onto climate change.

All the treasure, all the lives and limbs lost in the 2003 invasion of Iraq which was no threat to the US, could have been diverted into infrastructure, the lives of the American people and the planet.

Climate change is the common denominator that will bring the world together. Global warming is just that, global, and the governments of the world have to come together to accommodate what lies ahead. The only alternative is dysfunction, suffering and total disaster.

The battle for Jesus is the battle for humanity, for the planet. We need leadership to unite the world. Politicians must take up the responsibility of our future. They must be held accountable for their actions; that is the mission of Jesus and the Archangels. The question is how to do it?

This picture depicts Saint Michael as the protector. He is the patron saint of battle. In the novel, he is the vicar of St Michael’s Crossroads Chapel on the Orchard Road. Even so, he has all the attributes of the Archangel and beneath his persona is a mind with a steel trap. He is tasked by Heaven to avert the perils of climate change/global warming and save the world.
